It
is reported that Ship-breaking scrap prices in the Turkish domestic market remain
unchanged since the mid of the last month i.e. June. Meanwhile, imported scrap
offers also have remained stable in the same period.
Domestic
scrap from ship breaking is offered at $380-390/MT delivered to mills.
Turkey's
ship breaking industry continues to expand the business year by year in line
with the strong demand for such material (ship breaking scrap) from Turkish steelmakers. Though, Turkey
has only ship-breaking yard in the western town of Aliaga in Izmir.
Based
on the data provided by Ship Recyclers Association Turkey, country has broken
more than 180 ships so far in the current year, with producing over 0.55
million MT of scrap.
