The MB Shah Commission who had reached Orissa on 9th December has completed its inspection against illegal mining activity in Joda, and Koira Mining Circle.
As learned from the sources, no major threat were seen to the system. Mining office in Joda and koira have resumed their work on permission procedures. The mining offices had mostly stopped all their activities during the commission's visit. Permits are also being granted to sponge iron plants based outside Odisha.
The independent commission, headed by a retired judge of Supreme Court has however lately suspended operations of eight mines in the Koira circle majorly know as AMTC, ESSEL, Rungta, Gitarani, and others.
The commission will soon submit the report on the investigation held.
