SECL E-auction attracted lower bids

In the recently concluded SECL spot e-auction for Korba
field, 525,700 tons of non-coking coal material was auctioned. 236,700 tons of
Baroud OC material that was auctioned fetched a price of Rs 1,450/MT (inclusive
of tax). Material from these mines in the last auction was available at
around Rs 1,900/MT.

75,000 tons material from Laxman OC (Stock) was auctioned at Rs 2,000/MT and
that of 90,000 tons material from Manikpur OC  was also auctioned and will
now be available at Rs 1,900/MT (inclusive of tax). Coals from these mines
were bid lower by Rs 750 and Rs 350/MT respectively.

A trader based in Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) region said that
domestic coal is getting a tough competition from imported coal from Indonesia, South Africa and Australia. Domestic coal is thus under pressure.

Whereas, an Importer based in Mumbai said that the
imported coal market is firm at present but is expected to rise in future
considering the upcoming power plants and rising acceptability of the
material.
