SCCL coal auction in Aug’17 received overwhelming response among the buyers, as 78% of the total offered coal quantity of 309000 MT was sold. Last month, the company had allocated 210603 MT of coal through the auction process, which was 63% of the total offered quantity.
The auction conducted on 30th Aug’17 had offered total coal sales through Road mode of auction, while none of the offers were made for rail transportation in this month.
Out of the total 17 mines from which coal had been offered, quantity from 10 of these mines was completely sold off. While only 2 mines namely Dorli and Khairguda failed to attract even a single buyer in the auction.
The average winning price of coal was INR 2673.63/MT against the average reserve price of INR 2547.82/MT, thus SCCL gained 4.93% increase over the reserve coal price.
Major coal receivers in the auction were Nava Bharat Energy, Emco Energy, ITC Ltd, Toshniwal Minerals and Orient Cement.

SCCL Coal Dispatch to Power Sector:
SCCL coal dispatch to power sector has increased 10% Y-o-Y to 21 MnT during Apr’17-Aug’17, in comparison with 19.1 MnT coal dispatched during the same period in FY17.
Monthly dispatch to power sector was 3.9 MnT in Aug’17, down 5% M-o-M compared with 4.1 MnT in Jul’17. However, dispatch was marginally higher on the year compared with 3.8 MnT in Aug’16, as per the data provided by Ministry of Coal.
