SCCL: Coal Production Up 7% M-o-M in May’19

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the Indian coal miner, operating in the state of Telangana has reported a 7% growth in monthly coal production during May’19.

The coal company had attained 5.87 MnT coal production in May’19 against 5.49 MnT in Apr’19. Output figures were also 15% higher on the year from 5.09 MnT in May’18.

Total production in the first two months of FY20 (Apr-May) has reached 11.37 MnT, up 18% Y-o-Y from 9.6 MnT in the corresponding period of FY19. Besides, it had also attained the target of 11.29 set for the period.

SCCL has set annual production target of 70 MnT in FY20.

SCCL has also achieved coal dispatch target for the first two months of FY20, but the absolute volume was slightly lower y-o-y from that in FY19.

The company had dispatched 5.76 MnT coal in May’19, thereby accumulating 11.33 MnT coal offtake during the Apr’19-May’19 period, which was down 2% Y-o-Y from 11.61 MnT in Apr’18-May’18.

Dispatch target was set at 10.61 MnT for Apr’19-May’19.

Area-wise Coal Production in May’19:
Out of the total coal output, 5.14 MnT was procured from the opencast projects while the remaining 0.73 MnT coal was attained from underground projects.

Kothagudem area recorded the highest coal output with 1.11 MnT, followed by Manuguru, Ramagundam-II, Yellandu, Ramagundam-III and Srirampur.

SCCL Area-wise Coal Production

Coal Supply to power Plants:
SCCL’s coal supply to NTPC power plants rebounded after falling in Apr’19 to record 4% increase during May’19. Coal supplies were noted at 1.097 MnT in May’19 against 1.05 MnT in Apr’19.

Coal supplies to its pit-head power station-STPP improved 30% on the month to 0.562 MnT in May’19 against 0.43 MnT in Apr’19.
