SCCL: Coal Production Up 6% Y-o-Y in H1 FY18

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has recorded 6% increase in coal production during the first half of the current fiscal FY18. Coal Production during Apr’17-Sep’17 period stood 27.78 MnT against 26.18 MnT coal produced during the same period back in FY17.

Out of the total quantity, about 4.15 MnT coal was produced from Underground coal mines while the remaining 23.64 MnT coal was produced from the Open Cast projects.

Total dispatch during the first six months of FY18 stood 29.95 MnT with an increase of 13% Y-o-Y compared with 26.57 MnT dispatched during Apr’16-Sep’16.

Despite the yearly growth, the company however failed to meet its targets for production and dispatch which were set at 29.57 MnT and 31.07 MnT respectively, for H1 FY18.

Monthly Performance in Sep’17:
SCCL’s coal production noted minor growth from the previous month in Sep’17. However, on the yearly basis, Production increased 13% Y-o-Y to 4.54 MnT in Sep’17 compared with 4.02 MnT in Sep’16.

Coal Production from the Kodagudem area was recorded highest during the month at 0.66 MnT, followed by Ramagundam-III, Belampalli, Manuguru and Ramagundam-II. Moreover, Out of the 11 mining areas, SCCL has achieved production of 100% or more in five areas namely— Manuguru, Ramagundam-I, Ramagundam-II, Ramagundam-III and Bhoopalpalli.

Monthly Coal Dispatch in Sep’17 fell 2% on the month to 4.70 MnT, but was still strong on the year compared with 4.11 MnT in Sep’16. Out of the total quantity in Sep’17, SCCL has supplied 1.059 MnT coal to NTPC’s power plants during the month.
