SCCL Coal Production Up 13% M-o-M in May’18

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the coal miner operating in Telangana, has reported production of 5.1 MnT coal during May’18. Monthly production was 13% higher from the output of 4.51 MnT coal recorded in Apr’18.

SCCL has produced 9.60 MnT coal during the first two months of FY18 (Apr’18-May’18), with a modest increase of 0.79% from the production of 9.53 MnT noted in Apr’17-May’17. However, the production was still 10% short of its target of 10.68 MnT marked for the two month period.

Similar to CIL, SCCL too had noted higher coal dispatch than the corresponding monthly production in May’18. SCCL’s coal dispatch stood 5.84 MnT during the month, which was 14.5% higher than the monthly production.

Monthly coal dispatch had slightly increased on the month from 5.77 MnT in Apr’18. On the yearly basis, dispatch was 11% higher than the levels attained during May’17.

SCCL has achieved its coal dispatch target of 11.05 MnT set for Apr’18-May’18 by attaining total coal dispatch of 11.61 MnT during the period.

Area-wise Performance in May’18:
Out of the total monthly production, 0.83 MnT coal was procured from Underground projects, while the remaining 4.26 MnT coal had come from the Open Cast projects.

Highest coal production was recorded in Kothagudem area, from where the largest coal quantity was also dispatched during the month.

Ramagundam-III became the second-largest coal producing region, with an increase of 12% in monthly coal production.

SCCL Area-wise Coal Performance

Coal Supply to Power Plants:
SCCL’s coal dispatch to power plants had declined in May’18. Coal supplies to Singareni power plant (STPP)had fell 6% M-o-M to 0.405 MnT in May’18, while supplies to NTPC’s power plants was down 18% M-o-M to 1.106 MnT compared with 1.35 MnT in Apr’18.
