SCCL: Coal Production Down 9% M-o-M in Jul’17

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL)’s coal production has declined for the second successive month in Jul’17. Coal production was recorded at 4.4 MnT in Jul’17, down by 9% M-o-M compared with 4.81 MnT in Jun’17.

Despite recording fall on the monthly basis, Jul’17 production was 14.88% higher than the production of 3.83 MnT coal attained during Jul’16.

Also, Total coal production has increased 4.46% Y-o-Y to 18.74 MnT during Apr’17-Jul’17, however, SCCL failed to meet its production target of 20.32 MnT set for the period.

Coal Dispatch:
SCCL’s coal dispatch increased 21.9% Y-o-Y to 4.85 MnT in Jul’17, however, on the monthly basis, dispatch in Jul’17 was down by 2.4% compared with 4.97 MnT in Jun’17.

SSCL coal dispatch has outpaced coal production during the first four months of FY18. Total coal dispatch was recorded at 20.44 MnT during Apr’17-Jul’17, with an increase of 13.4% Y-o-Y compared with 18.02 MnT in Apr’17-Jul’17.

Recent Developments:
SCCL has released the first installment of INR 50 Crore for the construction of Kothagudem-Sathupally Railway line. The company has also urged railway authority to take necessary initiatives to complete the construction before the starting of its Open Cast Mining project at Kistaram (Sathupally) by 2019.

The completion of the railway line will help transportation of coal from Sathupally to Kothagdem.

In order to transport coal efficiently, SCCL has agreed to bear the construction cost of 53.20 km railway line amounting to INR 620 Crore.

Coal produced from Sathupally OC will be utilized at Bhadradri Power plant under construction at Manuguru and Yadadri power plant under construction at Nalgonda.
