Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the miner operating in Telangana, has reported coal production of 4.96 MnT during Jun’18. Coal production had slightly came down from the previous month’s output of 5.1 MnT, but was still 3% higher on the year compared with 4.81 MnT in Jun’17.
In fact, the company has posted year-on-year growth in coal production during each of the first three months of FY19.
During the first quarter of FY19 (Apr’18-Jun’18), SCCL’s coal production had recorded an increase of 1.61% Y-o-Y to 14.57 MnT, compared with the corresponding period’s output of 14.34 MnT attained in the last fiscal. However the company had missed its quarterly production target of 15.96 MnT by 9%.
In terms of coal dispatch, SCCL had achieved its quarterly target of 16.349 MnT by attaining 16.88 MnT coal dispatch in Apr’18-Jun’18. The quarterly total had also increased 8.4% Y-o-Y from the dispatch of 15.57 MnT coal recorded in Apr’17-Jun’17 period.
During Jun’18, Coal dispatch had fallen 10% M-o-M to 5.27 MnT compared with 5.84 MnT in May’18, but was still 6% higher on the year compared with 4.97 MnT in Jun’17.
Area-wise Performance in Jun’18:
Out of the total monthly production, 0.75 MnT coal was produced from Underground projects, while the remaining 4.21 MnT coal was procured from the Open Cast projects.
Highest coal production was recorded in Kothagudem area, where the production had decreased 3% M-o-M to 0.95 MnT in Jun’18.
Coal production at only 4 out of the 11 mining areas of SCCL had recorded increase on the monthly basis in Jun’18, namely-Manuguru, Yellandu, Ramagundam-II and Mandamarri.
Highest coal dispatch in Jun’18 was also recorded from Kothagudem area, followed by Ramagundam-I, Ramagundam-III and Manuguru.

Coal Supply to Power Plants:
SCCL’s coal dispatch to the power plants had declined for the second successive month in Jun’18.
Coal supplies to Singareni power plant (STPP)had fell 21% M-o-M to 0.321 MnT in Jun’18, while supplies to NTPC’s power plants was down 13% M-o-M to 0.96 MnT in Jun’18 compared with 1.11 MnT in May’18.
