SCCL: Coal Production Down 2% M-o-M in Feb’20

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the Indian miner operating in Telangana, has reported a fall of 2% in monthly coal production during Feb’20.

The miner had produced 5.63 MnT coal in Feb’20 compared with 5.72 MnT in Jan’20, thus recording its lowest output in the past three months. However, it had managed to slightly raise the daily average production to 0.19 MnT in Feb’20 as against 0.18 MnT recorded in the previous month.

SCCL’s coal production has failed to pick-up post monsoon, which registered its seventh straight decline on Y-o-Y basis during Feb’20. Incidentally, the output was marked 7% lower on the year from 6.07 MnT in Feb’19.

Cumulative production during the first 11 months of FY20 (Apr’19-Feb’20) has seen an incremental rise to 58.1 MnT as against 57.93 MnT noted in the year-ago period, however, the output was approximately 2 MnT short of the target set for the period.

SCCL’s Coal Dispatch:

Coal dispatch volume posted by SCCL in the 11 month period has fallen below the levels of corresponding production. Total supplies during Apr’19-Feb’20 period decreased 6% on the year to 57.42 MnT compared with 61.29 MnT in Apr’18-Feb’19 period.

There was no sign of improvement in monthly coal dispatch as well, which slipped 3% M-o-M to 5.44 MnT in Feb’20 beside going down by 7% Y-o-Y from the levels attained in Feb’19.
