Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the Indian coal miner operating in Telangana, has reported coal production of 5.49 MnT in Apr’19. The output was down 15% on the month from 6.47 MnT in Mar’19.
The company had attained such high production volume during the fiscal ending month in order to draw closer to its annual production target for FY19.
Though, stepping into FY20, SCCL had recorded a remarkable y-o-y growth during Apr’19, wherein output had grown 22% from 4.51 MnT in Apr’18.
Notably, the coal company had never achieved 5-MnT output mark in the month of April in the past fiscals.
SCCL has been progressively increasing its yearly output in line with the rising demand. Continuing the trend, the company has set a target to produce 70 MnT coal during the FY20.
As per the annual action plan set by the company, 59.7 MnT coal have been envisaged to be procured through open cast projects, while the remaining 10.3 MnT coal would be attained from underground projects in FY20.
SCCL’s Coal Dispatch in Apr’19:
SCCL coal dispatch was a tad higher than the corresponding monthly output, marked at 5.58 MnT in Apr’19.
Dispatch in Apr’19 decreased 13% M-o-M from 6.38 MnT in Mar’19, which was also 3% lower on the year from 5.77 MnT in Apr’18.
SCCL’s coal supply to NTPC’s power plant had come down on the month to 1.055 MnT in Apr’19; supplies to its pit-head power plant STPP had also fell 9% M-o-M to 0.433 MnT.
Area-wise Coal Production and Dispatch:
Highest coal production was recorded at Kothagudem area, which had attained production of 1.1 MnT coal in Apr’19, followed by Manuguru (0.68 MnT), Ramagundam-II (0.67 MnT) , and Yellandu (0.64 MnT).
Out of the 11 mining areas of SCCL, only 4 of them namely-Kothagudem, Yellandu, Ramagundam-I and Ramagundam-II, had achieved their monthly target set for Apr’19.
Highest coal dispatch was also recorded from Kothagudam.
