SCCL: Coal Dispatch to Power Sector Up 23% Y-o-Y in H1 CY17

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has reported an increase in coal dispatch to power sector during the first half of CY17. Coal dispatch during Jan’17-Jun’17, has increased 23% Y-o-Y to 28.96 MnT, compared with 23.538 MnT coal dispatched during Jan’16-Jun’16 period, according to the Ministry of Coal report.

On the monthly basis, coal dispatch was down by 5% to 4.1 MnT in Jun’17. However, the monthly dispatch was 7% higher than 3.849 MnT coal dispatched during Jun’16.

SCCL Coal Dispatch

SCCL is planning to step up coal supplies to neighbouring states. In this regard, the company has entered into agreement with Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) for coal supply of 81 Lakh Tonnes in FY18.

According to the agreement, out of the total coal to be supplied, 30 lakh tonnes will be provided to Raichur Thermal Power Station, 20 lakh tonnes to Yerramarru Thermal Power Station and 31 lakh tonnes of coal to Bellary Thermal Power Station of KPCL.

Earlier in Apr’17, SCCL has signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with NTECL ( a joint venture of NTPC and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd, TANGEDCO) for supply of 1 MnT of coal.

The coal would be supplied to the 1500 MW Vellore thermal power plant. NTECL is the second biggest power company to receive coal from SCCL in Tamil Nadu. Prior to this, SCCL has entered MOU with TANGEDCO for 1 MnT of coal last year.
