SAIL Issues Purchase Tender for 9,370 MT Ferro Silicon

SAIL has invited a tender for tentative purchase of 9,370 MT ferro silicon for its various plants.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is the India’s largest steelmaker and produces a variety of steel and iron products, including Pig iron, flat and long products and special steels at its plants spread over India. The company will require a projected quantity of about 9,370 MT ferro silicon during Apr’16-Jul’16. The projected purchase quantity will meet the requirement of the following plants:

Chemical specifications

The material should contain Silicon 70% min, Carbon 0.15% max, Phosphorous 0.05% max, Sulphur 0.05% max and Aluminium 2.0% max. The above material required shall be in the size of 10-40 mm, 25-50 mm and 50-100 mm.

Eligibility criteria

1. The bidder should be a ferro silicon manufacturer and must have installed capacity to produce 8,000 MT pa.
2. The bidder must offer a minimum quantity of 2,700 MT to be submitted in 4 equal installments in 4 months.
3. The bidder must quote for all size-wise, packing-wise requirement of the market for all SAIL’s plants.
4. If the bidders are the past supplier of ferro silicon to SAIL, they shall be considered as eligible if they does not have a backlog of more than 10% of final ordered quantity against any purchase order placed on them or after 1 Jan’14.
5. If the bidders are the manufacturers and not supplied material to any of the SAIL plant since Jan’14, they required to submit the following documents:
a) A consolidated statement pertaining to any of the last 3 financial years.
b) Self attested copies of purchase orders for at least 2,700 MT of supplies as detailed in consolidated statement.

Tender schedule

Due date of offers submission will be on 5 Apr’16 at 13:00 hrs IST and the techno-commercial opening will be on 6 Apr’16 at 10:30 hrs IST.
