SAIL Issues Purchase Tender for 8,765 MT of HC Ferro Chrome

SAIL has invited bids from domestic/overseas manufacturers/importers of HC ferrochrome for a tentative purchase of 8,765 MT for its various plants.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is India’s largest steelmaker and produces a variety of steel and iron products including pig iron, flat and long products and special steels at its plants spread over India. The company will require a projected quantity of about 8,765 MT HC ferrochrome during Oct’15-Mar’16. The projected purchase quantity will meet the requirement of the following plants:

1. Salem Steel Plant (SSP) – 8,100 MT
2. Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) – 240 MT
3. Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) – 100 MT
4. Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) – 25 MT
5. Alloy Steels Plant (ASP) – 200 MT

6. Visvesvaraya Iron & Steel Plant (VISL) – 100 MT

The material should contain Chromium (Cr) 60% +/- 3% (i.e. 57% to 63%), Carbon (C) 6 – 8 %, Silicon (Si) 4 % Max, Phosphorous (P) 0.05% Max, Sulphur (S) 0.04 % Max. For Salem Steel Plant, the S + P together should not exceed 0.085%.

Last date of offers submission will be 28 Oct’15 at 12.00 hrs IST and techno-commercial bids will be evaluated on 20 Nov’15.

Price bids will be evaluated on the basis of ‘Weighted Average Landed Cost Net of SETOFF (WALCNS)’ per tonne for each market on 60% Cr scale basis.
