Russian government announces quota system for scrap exports

The Russian government on 30 May’22 introduced a quota system on scrap exports for two months effective from 1 Jun’22, as per a SteelDaily report.
Export duty of EUR 100/t will continue to be levied on 540,000 t of Russian scrap outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) while above these levels duty of EUR 290/t will incur on exports.
The duty was imposed to prevent domestic inflation.
