Russian Coal Export Rise by 20% in May’16

Russian coal exports saw 20% hike in its monthly coal exports in May’16. While yearly exports down by 3% during the month.

Russia, one of the largest coal exporters shipped about 11.8 MnT coal to different destinations in May’16. Whereas, country’s yearly coal exports fallen by 3% during the month.

In first five months (Jan’16-May’16) of 2016 , country’s export has also rose by 2.5% to 62 MnT which was at 60.4 MnT in 2015 (Jan’15-May’15). Besides, the Russian government is also planning to increase its coal production quantity and exports by 10 MnT respectively.

Quantity in MnT

The country has been exporting more than 40% coal of its total yearly production. In 2015, the country had shipped about 155.6 MnT coal worldwide. Meanwhile, Russian coal output has been rising every year and reached at 373 MnT, which was at 358 MnT in 2014.

Major Export Destinations

Countries like Korea, Japan, China, UK and Netherland are the largest taker of Russian coal. Whilst, in the month of May’16 they were imported large quantity from the country.
