Russia: Thermal coal exports up 5%, y-o-y, to 85.5 mn t in Jan-Jul’21

Russia’s thermal coal exports in July fell by 26% to 10.9 mn t, customs data shows. However, in the Jan-Jul’21 period, Russia’s thermal coal exports increased 5%, y-o-y, to 85.5 mn t. Following China’s unofficial ban on Australian coal imports, the former has become a major buyer of Russian coal in 2021, resulting in a rise in Russia’s coal exports.
