Russia Pig Iron Exports Rise Sharply in September 2017

Russia, the world’s largest pig iron exporter has exported about 0.68 MnT pig iron during September 2017, the nation’s custom data showed.

The exports gain sharply more than 350% M-o-M in Sep’17 against second lowest export during CY17 in Aug’17 at 0.14 MnT. And in the month of Sep’17 the nation has exported the highest volume of pig iron since Jan’17.

In the first 9 months of CY2017, the data shows about 3.38 MnT Pig iron exports, decline by 10.34% against 3.77 MnT in the same preceding CY2016.

Further, on yearly premises the exports surged in Sep’17 by 78.94% from 0.38 MnT in Sep’16.

Prior to this, in CY16 (Jan-Dec) the country’s Pig Iron export was around 5.14 MnT & in CY15 at 5.34 MnT.

Unload Countries

During September 2017, the largest importer of Russian originated Pig iron was United States, imported 66% of total pig iron exports from Russia with quantity around 0.45 MnT. In line Turkey & Italy were the major buyers of Russian Pig Iron.

In CY17 (Jan-Sep) – United States, Turkey, Italy & Spain was the major buyer of Russian made pig iron which imported about 2.21 MnT, 0.34 MnT, 0.20 MnT & 0.18 MnT, respectively.

In context to export prices, global offers for steel grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 325-345/MT FoB India & USD 330-340/MT FOB Russia
