NLMK Group has signed a memorandum of intent with the Belgorod Region Administration and Russia’s Trade and Industry Ministry to construct new metals and mining facilities between 2024 and 2027. The project, which encompasses production of hot-briquetted iron (HBI) through eco-friendly technology, includes:
- Expansion of existing open-pit mine to increase iron ore output to 67 mn t/year from 43 mn t.
- Construction of new beneficiation capacities for 10 mn t of concentrate, a 9 mn t pellet plant and an HBI shop with 2.5 mn t capacity.
