Russian integrated steelmaker Metalloinvest has completed upgradation and reconstruction of its blast furnace No. 2 in Ural Steelworks. The new furnace has a maximum capacity of producing 760,000 t of pig iron pa. Now, the company is planning to start reconstruction of blast furnace No.3 in Feb ’21. Both the furnaces altogether will produce about 2 mn t of pig iron per year while reducing coke consumption and cutting costs, the company’s MD Ildar Iskakov said.
