Russia: Manganese Ore Imports Significantly High in CY 18

Russian Manganese Ore Imports increased by 24% in CY18. In CY18 the imports were 1.31MnT as compared to 1.06MnT in CY17. Imports in Dec’18 were 174,185MT as compared to 150,813MT in Nov’18 which accounted for 15.5% growth in imports.

South Africa, Gabon and Kazakhstan are the three major exporters of manganese Ore for Russia. South African exports from Russia contributed 64% of the total imported Manganese Ores in Russia. Russian Imports from South Africa went marginally down by 5.85% M-o-M However, the imports were significantly high in CY18 as compared to CY17 by 51.41%.

Imports were highest in the month of December in CY18. Imports in Dec were remarkably high for Gabon and Kazakhstan. Gabon which contributed to 26% of Total Russian Manganese Ore imports experienced a hike of 53.44%. Meanwhile, the imports were drastically high in CY18 Y-o-Y. Kazakhstan contributes to 10% of the total Russian Manganese Ore Imports. Russian Imports from Kazakhstan were more than double of that happened in Nov’18. However, the imports fell substantially by 64.59%.
