Russia: Iron Ore Exports Up 25% M-o-M in Jan’18

Russia, the 8th largest exporter of iron ore exported 2.08 MnT iron ore in Jan’18, according to the trade statistics released by Russian Customs.
Russian iron ore exports have increased by 25% M-o-M in Jan’18 as against 1.67 MnT in Dec’17. It also witnessed an increase of 32% Y-o-Y in Jan’18 against 1.58 MnT in Jan’17.

An agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports increased by 37% M-o-M to 1.63 MnT in Jan’18 against 1.19 MnT in Dec’17. The Y-o-Y exports increased to more than twice in Jan’18 as compared to 0.78 MnT in Jan’17.

Non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports decreased by 8% M-o-M to 0.44 MnT in Jan’18 compared to 0.48 MnT in Dec’17. However, the Y-o-Y exports in Jan’18 reduced to almost half the exports in Jan’17 which stood at 0.8 MnT.

China continues to be the largest importer of Russian Iron ore in Jan’18-

China stood the largest importer of iron ore from Russia in Jan’18 at 0.45 MnT , contributing 22% of total share of Russian exports (down 17% M-o-M) , followed by united Arab Emirates at 0.31 MnT, and Finland at 0.24 MnT(up more than twice M-o-M ).
Russian iron ore exports to UAE, Austria, and South Korea stood at 0.31 MnT, 0.15 MnT and 0.09 MnT respectively which stood nil a month before.

Exports to Ukraine and Turkey recorded low in Jan’18 as against being second and third largest importer for CY’17.
