Russia: Ferrous Scrap Exports Up 4% M-o-M in Aug’17

As per recent customs data, Russia has witnessed marginal rise in its ferrous scrap exports in Aug’17 against exports in Jul’17.Russia has exported 0.52 MnT ferrous scrap in Aug’17, which is up by 4% M-o-M as exports were at 0.50 MnT in Jul’17.

Russia is world’s fourth largest ferrous scrap exporter after EU, USA and Japan. It annually exports around 5-6 MnT ferrous scrap. Russia exported 5.32 MnT ferrous scrap in CY16.

On yearly premises, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports witnessed rise of 27% Y-o-Y as it was noted at 0.41 MnT in Aug’16.

During first eight months of CY17 (Jan-Aug’17), Russian ferrous scrap exports summed up at 3.02 MnT, less by 12% against 3.43 MnT ferrous scrap exports during the same period in CY16.

Major scrap loading ports in Russia are North-West Federal district, Far East Federal district, Central Federal district and Southern Federal district.

Turkey remained the top destination for Russian ferrous scrap exports –

In the considered month, Turkey’s share was highest in Russian ferrous scrap exports at 0.26 MnT followed by South Korea (0.11 MnT), Belarus (0.10 MnT), and Spain (0.02 MnT).

Portugal and France each have imported 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap from Russia in Aug’17.

During the period of Jan-Aug’17, out of total 3.02 MnT Russian ferrous scrap exports, Turkey imported 1.36 MnT occupying highest share of 45% followed by Belarus (0.73 MnT), South Korea (0.60 MnT), Spain (0.17 MnT) and Greece (0.03 MnT) respectively. Belarus registered 55% growth in its ferrous scrap imports while Spain almost halved it against the imports in the same time frame during the last year from Russia.
