Russia: Ferrous scrap exports rise in Apr’21

Ferrous scrap exports from Russia witnessed a hike of 13% y-o-y to 0.29 mn t in Apr’21 as against 0.26 mn t in the year-ago period. Belarus with 0.11 mn t remained the largest importer, followed by Turkey and South Korea. However, on a monthly basis, exports increased by 123% compared to Mar’21. A government committee in Russia has recommended increasing the country’s customs duty on ferrous scrap exports by Euro25/t to Euro70/t from the current Euro45/t, as per reports.
