Russia emerges as second-largest global coriander exporter in CY’25

• Higher output, stronger demand from Asia, Middle East lift exports
• Crimea harvests 25,000 t in CY’25, sows 60,000 ha for CY’26 crop

Russia strengthened its position in the global coriander market in CY’25 by exporting around 48,000 tonnes (t) of coriander seeds, including ground coriander, valued at approximately $27 million. The country became the world’s second-largest coriander exporter, driven by higher production and strong demand from key Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

Russia strengthens export footprint with higher production 

Indonesia was the largest buyer of Russian coriander in 2025, importing more than 17,000 t, followed by India with around 10,000 t. Exports to Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka exceeded 3,000 t each, while the UAE imported approximately 3,000 t. Additional shipments were made to several other international markets. Crimea, the country’s leading coriander-producing region, harvested more than 25,000 t during CY’25 and has already sown over 60,000 hectares for the CY’26 crop, supporting continued export growth.

India maintains leadership in global coriander trade

India remained the world’s largest coriander producer and exporter, shipping around 58,000 t in CY’25, while Italy ranked third with exports exceeding 21,000 t. Malaysia was the largest destination for Indian coriander exports, importing nearly 14,000 t. Other major export markets included the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, and several other countries, reflecting steady international demand for Indian coriander.

Outlook

Russia’s rising production and export volumes are strengthening its position in the global coriander market, supported by expanding cultivation and growing overseas demand. While India continues to lead global exports, increasing Russian supplies are expected to intensify competition in international coriander trade.
