Russian billet exports fell slightly by 4% Y-o-Y in Oct’18, while it rose by 2% on monthly premises, as per custom data maintained by SteelMint.
The country has exported around 1.25 MnT billet in the month of Oct’18 against 1.30 MnT in Oct’17, fall by 4% Y-o-Y. Although on monthly basis, billet exports inclined by 2% in Oct’18 as against 1.22 MnT in Sep’18.
Further, in the first 10-months of CY18 (Jan-Oct), Billet exports inclined by 12% to 13.15 MnT against 11.74 MnT in same month of the previous year. On yearly calculations, the total Billet export was at around 14.38 MnT in CY17 (Jan-Dec).
Taiwan remains the largest importer of Russian Billet during Jan-Oct’18 with a contribution of around 21.05% (2.77 MnT), followed by Mexico 16.89% (2.22 MnT), Turkey 12.25% (1.61 MnT) & Belgium 11.62% (1.53 MnT).
Finish Long Steel Export:
Russia exported about 0.31 MnT finish long steel in the month of Oct’18 as against 0.23 MnT in Oct’17, significantly up by 35% Y-o-Y. However on monthly basis, finish long steel exports marginally decreased by 3%.
On a cumulative basis, Russia’s total finish long steel exports during Jan-Oct’18 stood at 3.18 MnT, moved up by 17% which was about 2.71 MnT in Jan-Oct’17.
Kazakhstan was the largest importer for Russian finish long steel with a contribution of 0.5 MnT (15.82%), followed by Belarus 0.33 MnT (10.42%), Lithuania 0.24 MnT (7.60%), Poland 0.19 MnT (6.09%), Taiwan 0.15 MnT (4.77%).
Highlights:
–According to World Steel Association (WSA), Russia’s crude steel production recorded at 60.29 MnT during Jan-Oct’18 as against 59.33 MnT during same period previous year.
–During the Oct 2018, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports recorded at 0.46 MnT, which has increased 10% M-o-M as against 0.42 MnT in Sep’18.
–Russia remains the largest exporter of Pig iron to the US during Jan-Oct’18 and recorded at about 2,521,747 MT (53.32%), followed by Ukraine at 1,514,940 MT (32.03%) & Brazil at 478,901 MT (10.13%).
