'Rungta & Sons' gets Environmental Clearance for its Oraghat Mining and Beneficiation Project

Bhubaneswar: The union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has granted Environmental clearance to the Rungta and Sons for renewal of their mining lease and increase of production from 1.94 million tonnes to 5million tonnes per annum. The ministry has also granted Environmental clearance to the Iron ore Wet Beneficiation plant with a throughput capacity of 1.5 MnT pa at Oraghat in the Koira sector of Sundargarh district.


The proposal of the company was considered in the 8th meeting of the Experts appraisal committee held on 26 to 28th June this year and the subsequently the committee has recommended for grant of Environment Clearance.


The company has applied for the mining lease renewal for the 82.96 hectares Iron ore mines located at the Koira sector and grant of environmental clearance will brighten its prospects for renewal of lease.


The company is planning to invest Rs 200 crore in the project of which 6.46 crores has already been spent. The company has agreed to make a budget of Rs. 70.35 lakh for environmental protection in the surrounding area and Rs. 59.43 lakh per annum towards recurring cost.
