“Rourkela Steel Plant
(RSP) has registered the best ever crude steel and saleable steel production in
the first eleven months of this fiscal. RSP's February '12 marked success helped
largely in firming up the first eleven months performance.
The production of HR
Coil for sale was 743,297 tonnes and that of HR Plates was 3.03.333 tonnes. Since
the beginning, these were February's best production figures,” said sources.
.
RSP, a unit of the
Maharatna Company SAIL, made 1.97 million tonnes (MT) of Crude Steel and 1.87
MT of Saleable Steel thereby achieving 113.3 per cent and 122.8 per cent of
capacity utilisation, respectively. By utilising 114.6 per cent of capacity, it
also made 2.09 MT of Hot Metal.
The blast furnace made
a record 7.421 tonnes of Hot Metal and the Steel Melting Shop produced 6.396
tonnes of Crude Steel on February '12 which was the best production figure for any
single day through 42 blows. Due to this, the same day’s total Crude Steel
production made a new record of 7,441 tonnes for a single day.
The plants performance
was also good in key techno-economic parameters. It recorded the best ever
figures of Coke rate of 522 kg per tonne of Hot Metal, average blast furnace
productivity of 1.547 tonnes per metre cube per day and Specific Energy
Consumption of 6,746 Giga Calorie per Ton of Crude Steel.
