Re-bar prices in Central India have moved as much as Rs 1,000 per ton in last one month. Currently Fe 415 of 20mm is being offered in the range of Rs 33,400-33,500/t (Ex-Works Raipur).
Experts say that prices have gone up due to good demand from southern India, where power prices have been raised resulting in cut in steel production. Another reason is few medium re-bar producers have to shut shops in Raipur for some or the other reasons, leading to fall in supply from this area.
