RBCT port shipment dropped by 2.75% in June'13 Y-O-Y

Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) one of the  leading coal handling terminal, has exported around 33 MnT of coal till June 2013, which is 21.9% more in comparison to May's total shipment quantity. Whereas, when compared to last year's same period, the port's shipment quantity has dropped by 2.75%. 

In 2012-2013 port had shipped a total of 68.3 MnT of coal, which was 4.3% more than its preceding year 2011-2012 and by keeping the pace like earlier, the port may touch 71 MnT of coal's shipment figures. However, as per the port's report for the month of June, the port will receive around 67.30 MnT of coal by this year and will ship around 66.64 MnT of coal in year 2013-14.

After resuming of Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) from its closure due to annual maintenance, in June  717 rakes was accounted and improved by 77% from May 2013. Also port's stock has improved by 15% and stood at 2.8MnT. Port has loaded 50 vessels in June 2013.

South African coal market has weakened and RB 1 is being offered at USD 73-74/MT on FOB basis.
