Steel manufacturers on the West Coast have largely been consuming RB2 material from South Africa as a result of cost cutting.
RB2 material is available at around Rs 5,600 plus tax from various suppliers like Magnifico, Bhatia, Swastik among others, which is Rs 300-400 cheaper than RB1 material, for slightly lower FC content.
Quotes for RB1 material have remained constant in the range of Rs 5,900-6,000 plus tax. Whereas, RB2 quotes on the west coast have move up to current levels from Rs 5,300/MT in February (2013).
Import of material is constantly on a rise.
