Premium between primary and secondary rebar producers narrowed down to zero from earlier INR 1,000-2,000/MT for project sales.
Most of primary rebar manufacturers have reduced offers by INR 500-1,000/MT since the starting of current month, especially for projects sales.
On the contrary, secondary rebar manufacturers have increased offers by INR 1,000-2,000/MT across major Indian market in last two weeks. The major reason behind this is improved buying sentiments amid expected imposition of safeguard duty.
A rebar trader based in Delhi shared, “Currently, primary producers are offering 12 mm rebar at INR 28,500-29,000/MT (excise duty included,VAT/ CST extra) for NCR/Delhi region in housing projects sales. In-line, few large secondary producers are offering the same product at the same price.”
Similar feedback received from rebar trader in Banglaore, who said, “Primary rebar manufacturers based in South India are offering 12 mm rebar at INR 29,000/MT (excise duty included, VAT/ CST extra) for Karnataka region in projects sales. In-line, secondary manufacturers in Bangalore are trading at similar levels of INR 28,500-29,000/MT.
A rebar trader based in Mumbai quoted that SAIL is likely to raise offers by around INR 500/MT, especially for rebar in last week of current month or may be 1st week of Jan’16.
