CSEB (Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board) has increased the power charges by 45 paise/unit effective from the beginning to the new financial year.* This is likely to push up the cost of production for manufacturers by Rs 400-500/MT.
However, this move does not come as a surprise for manufacturers as they were already expecting such a move. Anticipating a power tariff hike of around Re.1/unit, prices in physical market went up by Rs 700-900/MT in past few days. So, as the quantum of power tariff hike was less than the expectations, market saw prices correcting by Rs 300/MT soon after the announcement.
