In Jan’18, Petcoke imports in India had declined remarkably by around 52.38% over the imports in Dec’17, an analysis of the import data collected by CoalMint Research shows.
The decline in the imports was due to the Petcoke users having restricted booking the imports in Dec’17 over the uncertainty posed by the intervention of the Supreme Court over the usage of Petcoke. In Dec’17, there was the prospect of the apex court completely banning usage of Petcoke in the country; which however did not happen.
In Jan’18, around 0.5 MnT of Petcoke was imported in India against the imports of 1.05 MnT in Dec’17.
On year-on-year basis, the imports during the month were lower by 10.71% over the imports of around 0.56 MnT in Jan’17.
Conforming to the normal trend, the imports from USA during the month had accounted for the highest share in the total imports; followed by the imports from Saudi Arabia.
