Petcoke import into India touched a record high level of 1.15 MnT in Apr’16.
Interestingly, the quantity is higher than in all individual months of FY16, data available with SteelMint Research shows.
The spike in import was mainly due to buyers emphasizing on stocking the material ahead of the monsoon season.

During the month under review, the highest volume was imported from the US, at 4.67 MnT.

Amongst all the ports, the Kandla port handled 15% of the total imports, followed by the Krishnapatnam port, which handled 14% of the total imports.
