In Mar’18, Petcoke imports in India were at around 0.48 MnT, which were marginally up by around 4.35% over the imports of around 0.46 MnT in Feb’18, an analysis of the data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.

The imports had remained at lower levels as there was supply tightness in the key international markets. In the US, several refineries were under-going maintenance shut-downs, resulting in the supply tightness. At the same time, the international demand had become stronger, contributing towards the intensity of the tightness in supply.
The following is the break-up of the countries of import during the month under review.

Out of the major ports in India, the Vizag port had handled the highest volume of the import traffic; followed by the Mangalore and Krishnapatnam ports.

The major importers during the month were: Dalmia Cement, Ultratech Cement, Nirma, Ambuja Cement, among others.
