FY16 fiscal saw Petcoke imports into India rising remarkably by around 70% against that in the previous fiscal.
During FY16, Petcoke import to the country was recorded at 9.92MnT, which was 5.83 MnT in FY15, according to SteelMint Research.
During FY16, import affinity was higher due to lower material prices in key international markets. Low crude oil prices and oversupply in international market lowered the import offers to record low.

Low import offers had also prompted end-user industries to increase Petcoke usage to boost margins. Import had intensified during the last fiscal as buyers took the advantage of low import offers.
