Pakistan: Thermal coal imports decline by 45% y-o-y in Feb’25

Pakistan’s thermal coal imports stood at 0.32 mnt in Feb’25, marking a 45% decline from 0.58 mnt in Feb’24 due to a shift to domestic coal usage, volatility in global prices, and fluctuation in exchange rates. However, imports remained relatively stable m-o-m, rising 3.2% from 0.31 mnt in Jan’25. South Africa was the sole supplier, accounting for the entire 0.32 mnt.
