Pakistan’s leading steel mills have lifted G-60 rebar prices recently due mainly to domestic shortage and a sharp hike in raw materials costs. Offers have risen by around PKR 6,000/t exw-Punjab, and are currently at PKR 155,000-157,000/t exw-Punjab, sources informed SteelMint. Although prices have moved north before the Eid holidays, transactions are yet to be reported at increased offers. SteelMint’s assessment for UK/Europe-origin shredded scrap in containers has increased by $25/t m-o-m.
