Pakistan: Ferrous scrap import market cools off ahead of Eid holidays

Ferrous scrap offers to Pakistan have fallen slightly on lower bids and limited buying interest. In addition, during the monsoon season and ahead of the upcoming Eid holidays, the market is witnessing subdued trading, while buying has slowed down.

  • SteelMint’s bi-weekly price assessment for containerised shredded scrap is assessed at $546/t CFR Port Qasim, dropping by $4/t against the previous assessment on 13 Jul’21. No trade activities were observed in the second half of the week. The market may pick up after Eid, sources informed SteelMint.
  • UK-origin containerised shredded scrap offers are at $540-550/t CFR Port Qasim.
  • Dubai-origin HMS 1 offers are heard at $515/t CFR Qasim – stable against the beginning of this week – on tight availability.
