Orissa Mining floats Tender for Sale of Seized Iron Ore

Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC), a state owned miner has put around 1,07,000 tonnes of Iron Ore Fines, Lumps and ROM of grade ranging from Fe 55%-65% and around 1,60,000 tonnes of low grade (42-44) dump from BK Mohanty mines (Uliburu) located in Odisha.

Last date of submission of bids are on 21st October 2013 for Iron Ore (lumps, fines, ROM) and Dumps. This time traders are also permitted to participate in the tender.

Recently B K Mohanty Mines has been found digging out iron ore worth crores of rupees from non-leased area including a Reserve Forest.Even though the lease over 56.94 hectare area under Uliburu Iron Mines granted to B K Mohanty Mines expired in December, 2003, State Mines department found the miner illegally excavating iron ore worth Rs 856.93 crore during the period from 2000-01 to 2009-10.
