OMC Chrome Ore Prices drop by 33% for Outside-State Buyers

Bhubaneswar: Chrome ore prices of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has dropped by almost 33% for the outside Odisha buyers in the e-auction held on 3rd December.Chrome ore price of 54+ grade for the outside buyers has come down to INR 12, 745 at the South Kaliapani mines which was INR 18954 in the previous e-acution held on 30th October. On the other hand, price of the same grade for the inside-state buyers has remained almost unchanged (dropped only 2.8%)

There were 39,300 tonnes of Chrome Ore reserved for the inside-state buyers and 16,900 tonnes for the outside-state buyers. South Kaliapani mines contributed 28,700 tonnes and Sukrangi contributed 10,600 tonnes for the amount reserved for inside-state buyers.
Similarly, the two mines contributed 12,300 and 4,600 tonnes for the 16,900 tonnes earmarked for the outside-state buyers.
On the other hand there were 9,800 tonnes of Chrome concentrate available for auction.

As per the sources, entire quantity has been disposed. While Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) has been allocated 16,000 tonnes from the inside-state quota, Shyam Metalics ,VISA, Rohit Ferrotech has been allocated 8,100 ; 8,300 and 9,100 tonnes ( including concentrated) respectively.
