Odisha’s Iron Ore Production Up by 29% M-o-M in Oct’16

In FY17 (till Oct’16) iron ore production in Odisha was recorded at 50.75 MnT against 39.62 MnT recorded in the same period last fiscal.

Odisha’s iron ore production increased by 29% M-o-M from 6.74 MnT in Sept’16 to 8.67 MnT in Oct’16. On yearly basis (i.e. compared to Oct’15), state’s iron ore production has improved by 11% against 7.81 MnT in Oct’15.

Rungta Mines’ monthly iron ore production hits 2.5 MnT in Oct’16 – Amongst merchant iron ore mines in Odisha, Rungta Mines remains the largest producer at 2.5 MnT (up by 52% M-o-M). This is miner’s highest monthly production so far in this fiscal. It is to be noted that the miner is actively participating in exports apart from supplying ore in domestic market.

Other major producers were -KJS Ahluwalia (0.89 MnT), Serajuddin Mines (0.88 MnT), and Indrani Patnaik at 0.49 MnT. State owned unit – Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) trebled its iron ore production last month to 0.15 MnT.

Talking about captive mines, Tata Steel’s iron ore production was recorded at 1 MnT and that of SAIL stood at 0.66 MnT.

Odisha’s iron ore production at 50.75 MnT from Apr-Oct’16- So far in this fiscal (till Oct’16), Odisha’s iron ore production has touched 50.75 MnT, up by 28% Y-o-Y. Amongst merchant mines, Rungta Mines remains the largest producer at 11.88 MnT followed by Serajuddin Mines at 5.4 MnT and KJS Ahluwalia at 3.98 MnT.

In Oct’16, Odisha based merchant miners have produced 39.07 MnT iron ore however dispatches in the same time frame stood at 34.69 MnT (excluding movement for export).
