Odisha’s Iron Ore Production Touches 35 MnT in First 5 Months of FY17

5.29 MnT iron ore produced in Aug’16, up by 5% Y-o-Y.

Odisha’s iron ore production remained stable on monthly premises. 5.29 MnT iron ore was produced in Aug’16 from mines located in Odisha. However, if we compare on yearly premises (i.e. with Aug’15), the figure is up by 5%.

Iron ore production from merchant mines fell marginally from 3.77 MnT in Jul’16 to 3.73 MnT in Aug’16.

Amongst the merchant mines, Rungta Mines was the largest producer at 0.97 MnT (up by 16% M-o-M) in Aug’16 followed by KJS Ahluwalia at 0.51 MnT (up by 19% M-o-M ) and Serajuddin Mines at 0.38 MnT (down by 46% M-o-M).

Talking about captive mines, Tata Steel’s iron ore production fell marginally by 5% M-o-M to 0.88 MnT in Aug’16. Iron ore production of SAIL was recorded at 0.53 MnT in Aug’16 (up by 18% M-o-M).

State-owned miner – OMC recorded stable volumes in iron ore production of 0.05 MnT in Aug’16.

Significant increase of 40% Y-o-Y can be seen in Odisha’s iron ore production in the first five months of this fiscal (i.e. Apr’16-Aug’16). Iron ore production of 35.3 MnT was recorded in the time span of Apr’16-Aug’16 against 25.3 MnT production in the same period last fiscal.
