Odisha to Expedite Pending Lease Renewal Cases

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to expedite disposal of pending mining leases awaiting extension of validity. An inter-departmental committee of the state government will very soon examine cases of around 70 such cases. The union mines ministry in its letter dated 3rd March has asked all the state governments to expedite all the mining lease cases awaiting extension of validity under the sec 10A (2) c of the MMDR act or prior approval of the central government has already been granted. The ministry had convened a meeting on the issue on 12th of January.

“The inter-departmental committee is expected to meet soon to take a call on extension of lease validity. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the government will decide on extending the lease validity”, said a senior government official. The state government has already passed orders to extend validity of 52 mines after the enactment of Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) MMDR Act, 2015.
