Odisha may not Extend Dates of Mining Auction

Bhubaneswar:  Despite reports of cold response from bidders, the Odisha government has indicated that it may not extend the dates for the auction of one iron ore block.

“There is absolutely no plan to extend the dates for the auction, the last date for sale of bid document been passed on 5th of this month and the last date for submission of bids is 10th of this month. But so far we have not received any order from the government for extension of date” said a senior official of the Odisha Steel and Mines department.

The official however, did not say anything about the number of bidders participated in the auction.“ We at government are absolutely not aware of the developments in the ongoing auction process, because MSTC is conducting the process in a confidential and transparent manner”  he said.

The Odisha Steel and Mines department in the 3rd week of December had come up with a notification  inviting bids for grant of one iron ore block namely ‘Gorhaburani-Sagasahi iron ore block’ through the electronic auction process. The iron ore block is reserved for specific end use in the integrated steel plants. The iron ore block situated in the Koira mining circle of Odisha’s Sundergarh district is spread across 90.62 Hectre mineralized area and it has estimated total deposit of total resource- 99.59 MnT. ( Fe 55% cut off 84.92 MnT with Fe: 63.23% and at 45 to 55% Fe cut-off is 14.67 MnT with Fe: 49.97%).
