Odisha govt is planning to auction off two more iron ore blocks for which it is likely to issue notification in the coming month.
State govt. is hopeful to put following more iron ore blocks namely – Kalmong west iron ore block and Netrabandha Pahar iron ore block under the hammer. Both the blocks are located in Sundergarh district of Odisha.
“The differential global positing system (DGPS) survey, a mandatory process before putting blocks on auction, has already been completed for these two blocks. Notification for auction would be issued within the next one month,” a source in the state steel and mines department said.
Prior to this, Odisha govt. auctioned “Ghoraburhani Sagasahi” iron ore block with total geological reserves of 99.59 MnT located in Koira mining circle. Out of 7 qualified bidders who participated in the auction, Essar Steel emerged as the preferred bidder and won the block.
So far Karnataka govt. has successfully auctioned seven iron ore blocks. Out of which, JSW Steel won five blocks and MSPL won two.
