Odisha Iron Ore Production Up by 17% M-o-M in Oct’15

Iron ore production in Odisha has moved up by 17% M-o-M and stood at 7.58 MnT in Oct’15.

Rungta mines remained the major producer. Significant increase (67% M-o-M) in iron ore production of Rungta Mines has been noticed in Oct’15. The miner produced 2.16 MnT iron ore in Oct’15 against 1.29 MnT in Sept’15. Notable increase in iron ore production of its Jajang iron ore mines in Joda mining circle has been seen in Oct’15. 

Other major merchant producers include Serajuddin mines (1.24 MnT), KJS Ahluwalia (0.61 MnT) and Indrani Patnaik (0.41 MnT).

Talking about captive iron ore producers, Tata and SAIL produced 0.69 MnT and 0.65 MnT iron ore respectively in Oct’15.

In the first seven months of this fiscal i.e. Apr’15-Oct’15 Odisha iron ore production stood at 39.4 MnT. Rungta mines remains the largest producer at 9.76 MnT followed by Serajuddin mines at 7.15 MnT.

Odisha mining department directs lease holders to raise production to meet laid target

Recently in a meeting conducted with the lease holders, Odisha mines department has issued a directive to increase production in order to meet the laid target. The department has also instructed that departmental action will be taken against those lease holders who fail to meet the target.

Joda mining circle has been given target of generating revenue of INR 27 bn in FY16 while the circle has managed to raise only INR 14.3 bn till date.
