Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state has witnessed an increase by 8% to 99.18 MnT in CY’17 against 92.25 MnT in CY’16. Increased production from major miners resulted in increased output. Amongst merchant miners, Rungta Mines remained the largest producer at 24.53 MnT followed by Serajuddin Mines at 11.5 MnT and KJS Ahluwalia at 6 MnT.
On monthly basis, Odisha iron ore production has increased by 5% to 9.59 MnT in Dec’17 against 9.11 MnT in Nov’17.The Y-o-Y production also witnessed a marginal increase of 3% in Dec’17 as compared to Dec’16 which stood at 9.27 MnT.
In the first nine months of FY’18 iron ore production has increased by 7%. Production stood at 73.36 MnT against 68.65 MnT in the same period last year.
Rungta Mines – India’s largest private merchant miner produced 2.89 MnT ore in Dec’17 as against 2.77 MnT in Nov’17. Production of other major miners were as follows: Serajuddin Mines (0.74 MnT, down 23% M-o-M); SAIL (0.72 MnT, up 12%); Essel Mining & Industries (0.35 MnT, up 6% M-o-M). Iron ore production of KJS Ahluwalia mines fell by 47% in Dec’17.
Iron ore production of state-owned miner – OMC nearly doubled in Dec’17 and stood at 0.78 MnT against 0.4 MnT in Nov’17.
