Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state has witnessed a decline of 23% M-o-M to 7.42 MnT in Jan’18 against 9.59 MnT in Dec’17. The Y-o-Y production also witnessed a decrease of 7% in Jan’18 as compared to Jan’17 which stood at 8.01 MnT.
The decline in production so observed was due to suspension at five operating mines including Serajuddin, Essel due to illegal mining case in Odisha which otherwise produce around 15 MnT iron ore annually from the state.
However, during first ten months of FY’18 iron ore production has increased by 5% to 80.78 MnT against 76.66 MnT in the same period last year.
Rungta Mines – India’s largest private merchant miner produced 2.45 MnT ore in Jan’18 as against 2.89 MnT in Dec’17. Production of other major miners was as follows: Tata Steel (1.12 MnT, down 10% M-o-M); SAIL (0.56 MnT, down by 22%). Iron ore production of KJS Ahluwalia mines fell by 19% M-o-M in Jan’18.
Iron ore production of state-owned miner – OMC stable Jan’18 and stood at 0.78 MnT same as Dec’17.
A.M.T.C has sharply increased its iron ore production on monthly premises with 0.41 MnT in Jan’18 up more than three times compared to last month Dec’17 which stood at 0.12 MnT.
